Dedicated Servers Defined

When we talk about web hosting servers, there are three main kinds - shared hosting servers, VPS (private virtual servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web servers host multiple clients and so the resources per web hosting account are limited, virtual private server plans give you more configuration autonomy, but also affect other virtual web servers on the hardware node if utilized imprudently, and dedicated servers give you the option to perform everything you like without meddling with anyone else.

Why would you need a dedicated server?

Dedicated servers are traditionally much more high-priced than shared web hosting servers or virtual web servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The explanation is pretty simple. If your company has a resource-consuming website, or simply has very exact server configuration requirements, the most logical choice would be a dedicated server. For someone who is willing to invest in security and reliability, the greater price is not an issue. You are granted full root privileges and can use 100 percent of the server's resources without anyone else availing of these system resources and intervening with your web sites.

Hardware specifications

Most shared hosting vendors, including us at One 4 All Networks, offer different hardware architectures you can pick from depending on your demands. The configurations offer different kinds of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM memory and disk drive sizes and different bandwidth quotas. You can pick a web hosting CP, which is a useful software tool if you would like to use the web server for web hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to an SSH console for all the modifications you will be making. We offer three sorts of web hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The Control Panel of your preference

If you are a self-reliant Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated server via an SSH console exclusively. That, though, could be awkward, even more so if you decide to grant full server root access to somebody else who has less technical skills than yourself. That is why having Control Panel software activated is a brilliant idea. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel GUI that we provide does not give you complete root access and is mostly suitable for somebody who runs plenty of websites that require lots of resources, but would like to administer the websites, databases and electronic mail addresses using a user-friendly web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, grant full root privileges and offer three levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting packages instead of utilizing the dedicated web hosting server just for yourself, you should choose one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In the event of a predicament with your dedicated hosting web server, such as an unresponsive Apache or an outage, it is useful to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at One 4 All Networks the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated server as well. Backups are also an additional feature - the web hosting distributor offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a kind of RAID that would permit you to store the very same data on 2 server hard disks as a precaution in case of a server hard disk failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted full server root privileges deletes something accidentally.
